Dr. Samrina Rehman, EMBA

Dr. Samrina Rehman is an experienced science professional, a bioinformatics data scientist, and an educator, with a PhD in Systems Biology, an Executive MBA, and Masters degree in Chemistry and Cheminformatics. She combines advanced scientific expertise with strategic business acumen, leading innovative research projects that advance understanding of human diseases, including connective tissue diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, liver disease, metabolic disorders, and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Rehman has authored several scientific publications and reports throughout her career. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and an elected member in several professional societies. Dr. Rehman led multidisciplinary projects pioneering the application of systems biology to understand Dupuytren's disease and advance the study of such fibroproliferative disorders. Her work on systems biology of liver disease, using data from patient-derived iPSCs, hESCs, and differentiated hepatocyte-like cells, has been instrumental in advancing the field. She has investigated various cancer datasets, including chronic myeloid leukemia, applying systems biology and mathematical modeling to predict key protein regulation and examine cancer cell heterogeneity, offering insights into resistance mechanisms, leading to the discovery of novel therapeutic approaches. Her innovative approach earned her a prestigious Unilever Fellowship for research on scalp conditions aimed at consumer health product development.
Furthermore, Dr. Rehman is a member of the Genomics England research network and is involved in multiple research projects, including one focused on rare diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Additionally, she has played key roles in data-driven investigations of biomarkers of healthy aging, hearing medicine, cystic fibrosis and mental health research. Her advanced lipidomic research on multiple sclerosis brain tissue has provided deeper insights into lipid biomarkers and disease progression. With her track record of delivering impactful research, fostering international collaborations, leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives in translational research, Dr. Rehman has facilitated partnerships that bridge innovation with real-world industry applications. She has developed proprietary in silico tools for data integration and secured funding for precision medicine and drug discovery research.
In her previous role, Dr. Rehman made substantial contributions to the UK’s life science and drug discovery SME network, supporting over 250 companies in advancing their preclinical research and product development.
